Fort Belan is a historic coastal fortress on the tip of the Dinlle Peninsula near Caernarfon in North Wales. The fort was constructed during the American War of Independence (1775-83) to protect the coastline against the threat of attack from American vessels.
Fort Belan is a stunning 18th-century stone-walled fort with castellated ramparts containing canons which encircle the houses at the centre. There is a choice of six cottages offering a potential capacity of forty-five. Each cottage sleeps from two to twelve.
Fort Belan occupies a most romantic setting on the coast at the entrance to the Menai Strait with a history that fires the imagination. There are fine views out to Caernarfon Bay and across to Anglesey. It is an ideal location from which you can explore Snowdonia, the Lleyn Peninsula and Anglesey.
