A beach hut with a quarter of a million pounds price tag is put up for sale on Abersoch Beach
A beach hut that goes on the market with an asking price starting at £250,000 appears destined to become the most expensive beach hut ever sold in Wales.
The hut is double-fronted and is located on the main beach in Abersoch, Gwynedd, a seaside community.
If sold, it will be more expensive than recent price tags on the same beach, with one going on the market in 2022 for £200,000.
However, considerably more expensive than the typical Gwynedd home, the hut is now worth £50,000 more than the county’s average home price, which was £198,500 in March, per official figures.
Additionally, it exceeds the average home price for all of Wales, which was £214,000 in March, according to the UK House Price Index.

The beach bungalows are not connected to the city water system, and overnight stays are absolutely prohibited.
However, you still have to pay council tax on your new home, which is expected to cost close to £800 this year.
The price was described as “eyewatering” by beachgoers.
Mabon ap Gwynfor, a Plaid Cymru member of the Senedd, expressed his outrage at the beach hut sale, calling it a “shameful situation when someone can sell a shed for a quarter of a million pounds.”
“It’s a perfect example of how the property market lets Wales down if a shed goes for such a price.”
“Young people have absolutely no chance of getting housing in their own communities.”
People who make offers before the deadline at the end of June will be able to purchase the hut.
A Twitter quote stated: “Wow! BOGOF Beach Hut offer on in Abersock. Only while stocks last.”
The listing from the estate agent mentioned: “A rare opportunity to acquire a freehold double unit bathing hut being one of the largest on the much sought after Abersoch Main Beach, closer to the Yacht Club end and a couple of hundred yards from the Beach Café and Sailing School.”
Abersoch is a small village of approximately 2,600 inhabitants located in the Llanengan neighbourhood of Gwynedd, Wales. Near the southern end of the A499 on the east-facing south coast of the Llŷn Peninsula, it is a well-known coastal seaside resort with about 800 inhabitants.
It is around 7 miles (11 km) south of Pwllheli and 27 miles (43 km) south of Caernarfon, the county seat. The river Soch, which flows through the community and empties into the sea, gave the community its name.
The word “Aber,” which means “estuary,” provides an exact translation of the “Soch Estuary.” In the regional Welsh dialect, the village’s name is frequently written as “Rabar”.
Due to Abersoch’s appeal to tourists, notably those from northwest England and the western Midlands, both the sale of holiday homes there and the renovation of older homes into vacation rentals have increased over the years.
As a result, locals have taken to the streets through the YesCymru movement to protest against growing housing costs that drive families out of the coastal communities where they grew up in. As a result of a high ratio of holiday rentals compared to homes for families in the area, Abersoch Primary School was forced to close.
The Welsh government has been urged by Gwynedd Council to intervene and limit the number of holiday homes for rent that are awarded to each region.
