Easter Itinerary

So, whether it’s the Great Cadbury’s Egg Hunt at Plas Newydd House & Gardens or the Medieval Easter Weekend at Beaumaris Castle there are lots to enjoy for all the family!

Day 1
Just over a 45 minutes drive from Anglesey, nestled in the Conwy Valley is Zip World, A unique range of very special adventures. Experience Europe’s longest ziplines or the massive underground trampolines & high-rope cavern adventures.  The park’s major attraction however has to be the World’s Fastest Zip Line, where you can reach speeds of over a 100mph! Really good entertainment for the family. The park also has a good café and free wifi if needed. www.zipworld.co.uk/location/fforest

After an action-packed morning, why not visit nearby Betws-y-coed, the gateway to the Snowdonia National Park and unwind taking in the attractive and peaceful surroundings? There are also some lovely shops, cafes, restaurants and activities to enjoy.

Day 2
Beaumaris is a captivating seaside town, with its mix of medieval, Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian architecture.  One of Anglesey’s major tourist hotspots. It’s a great place for the family to relax. There’s lots happening at Beaumaris’s major attraction, The Beaumaris Castle over the Easter Weekend.

There is an Easter Egg Hunt for the youngsters to enjoy, whilst the adults can enjoy the Medieval Crafts weekend.  Knights will do battle to conquer the land, jesters and musicians will entertain, and the townsfolk will demonstrate how life was in medieval Wales. There will be demonstrations of medieval life, living history, crafts, games, armoury talks, archery displays, sword fighting, music and more.

After a day on the beach in Beaumaris, I personally recommend jumping back in the car and heading back towards Menai and stopping at the Gazelle Pub. A lovely spot for an evening meal with the family. You have to park your car and then walk down steps to get to the pub which overlooks the Menai straits.

The food is good here, but the reasons to visit this favourite Menai haunt, is the View! Why not enjoy fresh seafood and a glass of wine, whilst your kids are crab fishing off the jetty, just brilliant.

Day 3
Ribride! This morning you’ll depart to Menai for a trip on the straits on a motor boat! The tour is named ‘Bridges & Swellies!’ The trip combines exhilaration with an in-depth look at the history of Menai, the trip makes is way to Plas Newydd Stately Home, before roaring back to Menai, a brilliant trip for all the family!

There are additional trips to other parts of the island to if you would prefer a different experience including a trip called ‘Puffin & Seals’ Rest of day 3 at your leisure

Day 4
Time to get the cycling helmets on and peddle on one of the great family cycling routes in Britain!

Lon Las Cefni Cycleway in Anglesey, North Wales is one of the best family cycling routes you will find anywhere. This linear path is flat for the majority of its 13 miles with all but a couple of miles off-road, so there’s no traffic to worry about. It goes from Newborough Forest to Llyn (Lake) Cefni and passes through some of the most spectacular scenery on the island in just two hours of trouble-free pedalling.

There are some stunning views along the Co pool across the Malltraeth estuary, then hug the banks of Afon Cefni through ‘Cors Ddyga’ and Llangefni to the Cefni Reservoir.

The environment of the route allows for some sensational views, the route is mainly tarmacked, with just a little off-road near Llangefni.

The start of the route is at the forest car park on the edge of Newborough Forest off the A408 signposted Malltraeth. There is also an opportunity to join the route by the clock tower in Llangefni where you can cycle towards Llyn Cefni or back towards Newborough.

After your ride on the cycleway, what better way to spend the evening in Newborough itself, we highly recommend The Marram Grass Café, fantastic food and a great experience all round

Day 5
An action-packed Easter Friday awaits!
Firstly after breakfast, it’s time to take on The Cadbury’s Easter Egg Hunt at Plas Newydd House & Gardens. A great family occasion, So many creatures call Plas Newydd’s Garden their home; do you think you can spot and name all the footprints? Follow the clues and crack the code to claim your chocolatey prize (£2 per hunt).

Ever tried SUP?! What better way to enjoy a Good Friday afternoon? SUP stands for Stand Up Paddleboarding, Enjoy the solitude floating on a tranquil lake in Snowdonia, re-connect with nature, taking time out from the fast pace of life. Experience the exhilarating feeling after a day of stand-up paddleboarding (SUP). These are the moments we live for.  Rest of the day/evening at leisure.

Day 6
You cant visit Anglesey without making a stop at one of the best family spots in Anglesey, The Sea Zoo! This exciting family sea life aquarium, is perfect for all the family. The Aquarium focuses mainly on marine life from the coasts of the UK, expect to see Lobster, Octopus, cuttlefish and much, much more! The site also has a café, crazy golf, bouncy castles and other kids activities.

The Sea Zoo is literally on the Menai Strait, so why not enjoy the views with a nice picnic after your trip?

As it’s the last evening of the trip, I recommend a night at Sosbon and the old butchers, located in an old Butchers shop in Menai. ‘Fine dining without all the fuss’ this is Anglesey’s only Michelin star restaurant, but WHAT an experience, admittedly it is difficult to get a table, but as recommended on trip advisor, call on the day and try your luck! This place is a treat for the senses. If you do get a table you won’t be disappointed.

Final Day
Time to depart back home, after hopefully a very enjoyable trip!

But it would be foolish to leave on an empty stomach, so we recommend you stop at Harri’s Portuguese Kitchen to fuel up before the trip home!

Ideally placed in Menai, wherever you stay on the island it’s conveniently placed for the trip home.
