Anglesey Golf Club

A flat but challenging par 71 links course at Rhosneigr, with a welcoming atmosphere for golfers of all standards, and playable all year due to its exceptional sandy soil, right next to the coast.

Baron Hill Golf Club

Baron Hill Golf Club is reputed to be the oldest privately owned nine-hole golf course in the U.K. dating from the 1880’s. Golfers of all abilities are welcome at this Beaumaris course.

Bull Bay Golf Club

The spectacular 18 hole championship course at Bull Bay, Amlwch, is an established heathland course above the rugged Anglesey coastline with panoramic views of the mountains of Snowdonia. With its modern facilities, visitors can expect a warm welcome all year round.

Henllys Hall Golf Course

This golf course at Beaumaris is an 18 hole par 71 course set in mature parkland, within the grounds of the historic Henllys Hall. The mature course boasts superb natural features, such as streams and ponds. Its elevated position offers great views of Snowdonia.

Holyhead Golf Club

The course enjoys a beautiful setting overlooking the sea at Trearddur Bay. The 18 hole heathland course can be demanding with several blind shots, small greens, elevation changes, and gorse bushes.

This recently developed 9 hole course near Benllech offers great views of Red Wharf Bay and the Snowdonia range.

Walking in North Wales

North Wales provides a huge variety of places to walk. The combination of mountains, beaches, and lakes makes North Wales one of the best places in the world to go for beautiful scenery and for a varied walking experience that you will find nowhere else.

Snowdonia

With 2000 miles of designated walking paths and choice of either strolling around lakes, walking through forests or climbing up mountains, Snowdonia is any walkers dream. Also, with the highest peak in Britain south of the Scottish highlands the mountain Snowdon (Yr Wyddfa) attracts hundreds of walkers each year to tackle the summit and is ideal for anyone who fancies a challenge.

Anglesey Coastal Path

The 125-mile Anglesey Coastal Path is designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty throughout most of its length. It offers a rich variety of terrain with cliff-top walks along the coast, crossing the characteristic lush farmland, coastal heath, dunes, salt-marsh, foreshore and pockets of woodland.

Cycling in Anglesey

There are several bike routes on Anglesey, with dedicated cycling lanes in many parts. There are also four organised cycle routes, each named after birds (in Welsh) which are mainly on country roads. The starting points are

1/ Llyn Alaw Visitor Centre

2/ Countryside Centre, Aberffraw

3/ Trax Bike Hire, Benllech

4/ Beaumaris Leisure Centre.

Lon Eifion Cycle Way

This scenic 12.5m/20km cycle path has been upgraded with an excellent hard surface all the way. The northern end starts 400 metres south of the large car park near Caernarfon castle. Excellent views of Snowdonia abound along the route. The southern end is at Bryncir, near Criccieth, where there is also a small car park. Lon Eifion is part of Lon Las Cymru, route number 8 on the National Cycle Network.

Lon Las Cymru Cycle Way

Lon Las Cymru continues from Caernarfon north to Bangor on the Lôn Las Menai. After crossing the Menai Strait on the Menai Suspension Bridge onto Anglesey the route follows quiet roads (which are signposted NCN 8) across the island to Holyhead.

Watersport Activities on Anglesey

Wrecks off the Anglesey coast

Sailing

Annual festivals celebrate the waters around Anglesey. The Menai Strait Regattas (July-August) is a series of yacht races and events held around the Island. Billed as “The Family Regatta” this is a true sailing enthusiasts festival with races organised in 19 classes for all sorts of craft including classic boats and even Celtic skiffs. The Anglesey Offshore Dinghy Race between Beaumaris and Red Wharf Bay in August, regularly attracts up to 100 of the best dinghy sailors from all over the UK and Europe. There is also the annual Holyhead Maritime Festival, held at the Holyhead Maritime Museum (August/September) which includes coastguard and lifeboat displays together with diving activities.
