We stayed at Spring Cottage, Fodol for the week of our Golden Wedding and were joined by our son, daughter-in-law and two grandchildren. The cottage was all we could have wished – sparkling clean, beautifully equipped, and with plenty of room for four adults and two boisterous boys under 5. The location was ideal, apparently remote in the Anglesey countryside, but in reality only a few minutes from Waitrose and the other services of Menai Bridge. Spring Cottage had everything needed for a marvellous holiday. The beds were comfy, there were plenty of bathrooms and showers, excellent kitchen facilities and plenty of parking space for the cars. Plus three chickens who came for breakfast on three mornings! The hosts and owners Rosa and David were very friendly and helpful and provided a much appreciated welcome basket. The weather was very good for North Wales and we spent three excellent days on the beaches at Newborough and Trearddur Bay. Many thanks go to Rosa and David for helping to make our anniversary week so special.
We’d never rented a cottage before so this was a new experience but it was a good one, and something we shall now do again. Plenty of space and ideal that the three bedrooms are all en-suite. Bedlinen and towels provided, along with cleaning materials etc and also a welcome pack of milk, tea and coffee and some Welsh cake/biscuits. It’s in the middle of nowhere, with no signs, so you really do need the directions, but these are excellent. Phone signal was pretty good and internet also not bad at all considering the location. We’d definitely return – it was an ideal place for meeting up with family. There are good restaurants nearby too and a local taxi company. There’s also plenty to do nearby from castles to Snowdon to ZipWorld.
We found fodol cottages through tripadvisor and booked to stay over new year with our friends (4 families) We were all impressed with the cottages They were both very spacious, modern, clean and well appointed. The owners lived at the back so any problems we could easily get in touch although we didn’t really need to. Nearly every room had an en suite with shower or bath. And the living areas were a good size to fit us all in. They are situated alone with plenty of land to wander around and the directions given by the owners were simple to follow. They even recommended a route for walking. We all had a great stay and new year and would recommend them to anyone looking for a place to fit a large group.
This is a great place to base yourselves and explore. Excellent accommodation and space – the grounds are great for kids 7 plus (under 7s need supervision). Great value for money. There is also a lovely welcome pack and towels are provided so not much to load the care with. Well recommended!
